Workshop is free and open to all. All ages and all abilities. 20 participants limit.
Audrey Diallo has been playing and teaching West African-style drumming in the Boston area for over 10 years. She leads regular classes, workshops, and circles of all skill levels for both children and adults. Her primary focus is creation of community through rhythm, often combining singing and dancing with traditional rhythms. She has traveled to Guinea, Mali and Senegal to study with Master drummers in the birthplace of the djembe, and is a devoted student of some of the great masters such as Famoudou Konate, Bolokada Konde, and Mamady Keita.
Alice Heller has been studying teaching and performing African dance and drum for over two decades in the Boston area and has traveled to Senegal and Mali as well as conferences in the US to share the love of African culture through rhythms songs and dance. She teaches classes to adults and children as well as workshops and programs that are accessible to all levels. She is also a Certified Brown Belt Nia instructor which informs her teaching and sharing.
