Theatre for All at the Youth Museum
Beckley, West Virginia Project

Theatre for All was a project intended to serve students of all abilities in the Beckley, WV area into integrated theatrical workshops that culminated into a final community performance. This project was another opportunity for parental, community and business involvement with schools and children from the local community.
The participants for the project varied in age - with and without disabilities. They learned not only performance techniques as they integrated amongst themselves and their peers, but we also learned to further understand and appreciate the world around ourselves.
Theatre for All was a four day initiative. The first three days consisted of theatre and movement workshops beginning from 10am and ending at 3pm. This project was conducted from July 21st to July 24th 2010 during summer school vacation making it more accessible for students. The end of the project consisted of a performance - showing what the participants learned through their workshop training.
The Theater for All workshops include the following:
- Greeting Exercise
- Warm-up
- Familiarization exercises
- Improvising on different themes
- Movement to music
- Group work
- Relaxation exercise
