On Saturday May 22nd at the Next Door Theater, we had our first West African Dance and Drumming workshop.  The workshop was a great success with twenty five participants of all ages and abilities. The workshop was lead by Alice Heller, a local artist who has been studying and performing West African Dance for over eighteen years.  Alice was accompanied on drums by Allison Stamiris and Eric Freeman.

It was an educational experience for all who participated because we had an opportunity to learn traditional dances of West Africa and about West African culture. We also would like to mention that it was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to having Alice and her crew back with us some time in the fall. We will for sure keep you updated!
