As part of the Brio West Virginia Artist Exchange, Sandy Shaw will be the first West Virginia Artist to come to Massachusetts through this initiative. Sandy is an award winning artist/teacher, currently in her 36th year of teaching art at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia, she teaches Art I-Art IV and Advanced Placement Studio Art.
Sandy will be facilitating a print-making workshop; one of the oldest art forms. Participants will be able to try different types of prints such as intaglio (linoleum cuts) to monoprints and stamps. Participants will also create a one-of-a-kind T-shirt to take home.
This workshop is open to the public and is for all ages and abilities.
Sandy has a Bachelor of Science in Art Education, Masters of Art in Teaching and National Board Certification in Art Adolescents through Young Adult.She has been awarded Raleigh County Teacher of the Year, and was a Finalist for State Teacher of the Year, West Virginia Art Educator of the Year, WV Governor’s Arts in Education Award, and the Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award. Her personal work has won numerous awards at art exhibits, and includes watercolor, oils, and mixed media.
